Scared of the operation
When I was having an operation for the first time, I was really nervous.
I was pretty young, 6 I think.
I had never had an operation before.
I had lots of questions about what would happen.
I was mostly scared about the anaesthetic that would put me to sleep.
What if I wouldn't wake up again?
The doctors were really good, they listened and answered all my questions.
They showed and talked about exactly what happens when you are put to sleep.
It made me feel safe.
I wasn't as worried anymore.
A doctor came and sat with me.
He took out some pictures showing what it looks like when you have an operation.
I could then understand what it was going to be like.
I felt calm before the operation, and before all other operations after.
