I saw that dad was sad

One time when I was with my brother and my dad, I noticed that dad was upset.
He looked worried and had a tear in one eye.
I asked why he was sad but he said that he wasn't.
But I saw that he really was.
I got worried that maybe something terrible had happened.
I had nightmares about all the scary things that could have happened.
Maybe dad was angry at me because I'm so difficult?
Or what if he was sick and was going to die?
Dad told me later that he was sad because I was sick.
He said that it is not my fault but that it's sad.
But we have lots of other things that are good.
He said that it's okay to be sad.
Sadness can come and go and everyone can be sad sometimes.
It was good that dad told me so that I didn't have to worry as much.
