I don't walk with my eyes
When I was going to walk up some stairs once, I met a person who wanted to help me because of my visual impairment.
He couldn't seem to understand that I didn't need help.
I was annoyed of course.
Does he think that I walk with my eyes, or what?
I walk with my legs and feet like everyone else.
Then I thought, I must be understanding towards those who don't know what it's like.
I'm sure this person wanted to be kind and help out.
So I explained what it is to be blind.
That I go to school and that the building is full of stairs.
Stairs are not a problem for me.
I thought it's probably best to explain so that people continue to be nice.
But then they also need to know more.
